Hole 1
Solid par 5 to start the round, good drive required up the centre to the left side here to avoid the right hand trees. Second shot 3 wood or long iron to set up for a nice pitch in.Longer hitters can have a go at reaching for two when conditions are right. Try and keep the ball below the flag to leave an uphill putt.
Hole 2
With OB left and thick trees to the right, accuracy off the tee here is a must. A 3 wood or long iron from the tee will leave a short iron in to a fairly unprotected green.
Hole 3
Difficult driving hole with the fairway directing you towards the heavily treed right side, accuracy is crucial; the approach is generally a mid to short iron to a slightly risen green. Short is better than long on this hole.
Hole 4
Very good solid par 3 with Mullet Creek running up the left side of the whole from tee to green, anything left is wet! Green is protected by mounds short left and a bunker to the right really shrinking down the entry to the putting surface.
Hole 5
Narrow driving hole with fairway shaped slightly right to left between heavily treed rough on both sides. A good drive leaving a mid to short iron into a relatively flat green, only greenside danger is a bunker short left in which the green keeper occasionally tucks the flag in behind.
Hole 6
Good straight away tee shot with not much trouble off the fairway both sides. The second shot will determine the hole if you get too greedy you will suffer the very sharp dogleg right at the 150 mark. Keep it simple for second to leave a short 3rd shot to a small sloping green.
Hole 7
Very solid par 3 to a small sloping green from back to front, to miss the green here makes for a tough chip, if the ball is above the hole when putting…hold your breath.
Hole 8
One of the longest, this is normally a drive and a long iron or fairway wood. Not a lot of danger, if into the wind the majority of players won’t reach in two so be prepared to pitch and putt. Try and get your 4 and move on.
Hole 9
Another very straight hole with trees living on both sides all the way. So anywhere on the fairway here will leave you a mid iron into an unprotected green, be aware though the middle to front of green is safest, green slopes back to front, over the back can cause trouble.
Hole 10
A shortish par 3 that plays a little harder than it looks. With a small front half of the green protected by bunkers right and left. Just play for centre of the green and make 3.
Hole 11
A very strong par 4 that doglegs right at the 240 mark with a hazard left and very thick pines right, driving the ball well is crucial. A long mid iron for 2nd shot to a tiered green with friendly surrounds, a par here is well earned.
Hole 12
A daunting tee shot that’s easier than it looks, quite a simple hole, driver or fairway wood down the right centre is perfect to feed around the undulating fairway leaving a short iron to pitch into green. Be prepared fro anything left to be punished and swallowed up by the hazard from tee to green.
Hole 13
Off the card the toughest hole on the course. A good drive will bring you short of the water which runs through four holes. On this section from here the hole doglegs right, the second shot will determine your fate, a 3 wood to the left side of the fairway will help setup your 3rd shot. A 20-foot drop off on the right will blind your 3rd shot. Then a good third will take you to a flat green with a bunker to the left, three good shots are required on this hole as one slip can be fatal.
Hole 14
With OB right and heavy trees the tee shot is crucial to leaving a shot at the green, a drive just left of centre is perfect to leave a shirt iron into a fairly unprotected green.
Hole 15
From the tee, big gum trees make the fairway narrow on the left with the hole sweeping left at the landing area and hazard all the way down the right, this quickly becomes an intimidating shot. A short iron to a narrow but long green and bunker to the left, precision is needed on both shots.
Hole 16
A short par 5 played smart could hail a 4, too greedy and an unnecessary bogey will result. Leave the driver in the bag a long iron will bring you short of the water, a well hit 3 wood can reward with the green in 2 otherwise another long to mid iron will give you a short pitch in to a very sloppy green. Leaving the ball under the hole is wise.
Hole 17
The last of our very long and straight par 4’s with heavy pines on a sloping hill which feeds the ball back to a wide fairway down the left a tree lined right side which also feeds the ball back, the only answer here is to pull the big dog out and let it rip, a mid to long iron for the second to a raised green with bunkers either side. Always take one more than you think, a two-tiered sloping green requires gentle touch with the blade
Hole 18
Our signature hole requires precision and respect with a full water carry. O.B’s over the back and bunkers surround the front left all the way around the back. Water is anywhere right, the best option with a mid iron is just hit the green have one or two putts on the sloping surface and put the clubs back in the boot and head into the clubhouse for a cool beverage.
